Detroit Hockey Squirts & Peewees & end of season DHA news

The Detroit Hockey Squirts and Peewees are wrapping up a bruising Spring Season at Eddie Edgar Arena in Livonia.

Meanwhile the DHA has made its end of season plans.

We have come to the end of the season many have stopped practicing and playing games and those who have not will be soon. This year we have decided once again to go with a more relaxed atmosphere for our end of the season event/awards ceremony. We will be having a barbeque! This barbeque will take place on Saturday May 21, 2011 from 12pm-5pm. This will be a fun filled day! It will begin with the I-Program having a game time to be announced and our other teams participating in kids vs. coaches games the time of these games will also be announced later. We will also have an awards ceremony and lets don’t forget about the food!

End of the Season Barbeque/ Awards Ceremony
Will take place on Saturday May 21, 2011 from 12pm-5pm. We are asking that each family donates some meat for the grill i.e. hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, etc. all side items will be provided by the DHA for the picnic. Cynthia will be taking donations starting this Saturday, through Tuesday, May 18, 2011.

I-Program Update:
All I-Program players should be in attendance for the next few weeks. We will be having player evaluations were Saturday (May 7th) and next Saturday (May 14th). It is important that all players are evaluated especially since some players are eligible to move up to a team next season. So please make sure all players are there! We also will have a few young men coming out for the next two Saturdays to run a skating clinic with the I-Program so you want to make sure your players take advantage of this!

Last Day of Skating:
Our last day of skating for this season is Saturday, May 21, 2011 this is also the day of our barbeque. The ice will be taken down after this date we do not have ice at this arena over the summer. We will be back for next season sometime after Labor Day. So over the summer please check your emails and mailboxes for our start dates.
FYI: There are some ice arenas that do maintain their ice during the summer months where you can take your player to skate (Dearborn, Livonia, Farmington, Southfield, etc.) and we encourage you to do so.

Equipment Return:
Equipment can be returned on Saturday, May 21, 2011 and Tuesday, May 24, 2011. I-Program players need to return all equipment that was given to them. Please return this equipment clean!!!

Past Due Fees:
If you owe any fees they are past due and must be paid as soon as possible. Anyone with a balance from this season will not be allowed to register for next season owing an outstanding balance. This balance will need to be paid first. So if you have any outstanding fees please make arrangements to pay these fees as soon as possible.

Early Registration:
We will once again be offering an early registration discount for the competitive teams only! There will be a $50.00 discount offered for those who pay in full and register now thru July 31, 2011. After July 31, 2011 we will offer a $25.00 discount from August 1, 2011-September 1, 2011. Regular fees will apply after September 1, 2011. So save yourself some extra money and register your player early.
FYI: Please check your email and mail boxes for upcoming fundraiser we will have to help with your fees as well.

DHA Parent Party Fundraiser:
We are planning a fundraiser for the organization. We are planning a night out for the parents which we think you all well deserve but at the same time will help us raise some money for our association. We really need all your support! Please look for more information regarding this in the next few days!

ABC Day Camp Registration:
If you are looking for a camp for your child for the summer then look no further. Our own recreation center (Butzel) will have a camp for the summer. Registration for this camp takes place on Saturday, May 14, 2011 on Belle Isle at the casino. The camp is from 8am-5pm M-F and runs between 8-10 weeks. The cost is $300 for 3-5 year olds and $400 for 6-12 year olds. For more information see one of the center staff.
